Committed pedagogy
Élisabeth Bruyère School of Social Innovation at Saint Paul University in Ottawa
I occasionally teach in the Social Innovation program at the Élisabeth Bruyère School of Social Innovation at Saint Paul University (Ottawa). My teaching and my activities, which I am passionate about, are inspired by the outdoor education philosophy of Forest Schools (English model), the engaged pedagogy of bell hooks, and the spiritual principles of yin yoga, which I have practiced assiduously for over twenty years (Yin and Kundalini certified). My teaching is based on connection to the natural and built environment and on the sharing of experiences (collective intelligence).
I deeply believe that university can/should nourish our physical and emotional bodies and our sense of community as much as our intellectual activities. Many sessions are held along the beautiful Rideau River, on the trails, or near the water, where we sit in a circle on camping chairs!
