For this walk, we set out on a mission with Little Tree Inspector backpacks designed entirely by Cœur d’épinette. In teams of two to four, children are invited to answer a series of questions about trees, using various tools: bark, pine cone, and leaf identifiers, a tape measure, binoculars, a magnifying glass, and a mallet.
The tree walk follows a creative route predetermined by the instructor and lasts approximately 1.5 hours. This allows visitors to discover the trees and urban nature of a neighborhood, a park, or around a school, while awakening their senses and connecting with nature. They learn to identify genera and species by observing the leaves, flowers, bark, structure, and shape of the tree, as well as to pay attention to the surrounding environment.
The walk changes according to the season. In spring, we observe new shoots, buds, and spring blooms; in summer, we observe leaves, insects, and summer blooms. Autumn reveals the colors of leaves without chlorophyll and fungi, while winter reveals the structure of trees, their bark, and their branches. Your guide will truly teach you to sharpen your eyes, as well as your hearing, smell, touch, and, when the season allows, taste.
